MPT expands LTE+ network to more locations

Myanmar operator MPT has announced that, starting July 14, mobile users in Tachileik in Eastern Shan and Shwebo in Sagaing will be able to access its 4G LTE+ services on 1.8GHz spectrum, reports Telecompaper on July 13, 2017. Together with other locations in Thaninthari and Rakhine, MPT has connected a total of six new coverage areas to its 4G LTE+ network.
MPT is offering a special data bonus of 1GB to first-time LTE+ subscribers. The bonus data is usable for one week after activation.
This latest expansion brings the LTE+ service to Tachileik in Eastern Shan, Shwebo in Sagaing, Myeik and Dawei in Thaninthari, Sittwe in Rakhine, and Patheingyi in Mandalay. The operator plans to expand its 4G LTE+ network to cover 74 townships, including 30 cities by the end of September.
Since early July, MPT has been upgrading and switching its mobile network towers to deliver LTE+ powered by 4×4 MIMO advanced technology. The operator has been rolling out the network which has so far reached 65 townships, including 21 cities, State and Regional capitals.
