Guam telecom provider GTA has reached an agreement to acquire 42 Mhz of wireless spectrum, Telecompaper.com writes on Nov 28, 2014. This new acquisition, following GTA’s 10 Mhz purchase of spectrum earlier this year, doubles GTA’s spectral holdings, the company said. After completing this new transaction, GTA will own 97 Mhz of spectrum. GTA expects to complete the transaction in the next few months. GTA plans to rapidly put to use the additional spectrum to increase capacity and internet speeds on its 4G LTE network. GTA is already using 10 Mhz of additional spectrum.
GTA expects to invest more than $15 million in network upgrades by end-2014. That amount brings the total investment the company has invested in network enhancements since becoming privatized in 2005 to more than $125 million. GTA has plans to invest over $15 million in network upgrade in 2015.
